We have recently returned from Taupo where we were filming the Trans Tasman Sheepdog Trials for Country TV (Channel 081 on Sky TV). It was a lot of fun, despite the terrible weather.
The competition was held at Aratiatia Station, with beautiful rural backgrounds. It featured the top 4 competitors and their dogs from New Zealand and Australia on a specially designed course.
Watching the dogs was fascinating as they were so focused and clever. They were excellent at predicting how the sheep were going to move. The teamwork between competitor and dog was amazing as well. They seemed to work as one.
We are currently editing the show and reliving the excitement.
