We are in the middle of filming our pilot episode for our series Water Farmers. The first episode is about an oyster farm at a company called Biomarine just north of Auckland. We’ve had some stunning weather so far. The water in the Kaipara Harbour was like a mirror and the sunrise was spectacular! We can’t wait to start cutting the footage. Just one more day of filming to go.
The Water Farmers series will showcase some of our more unique farms in New Zealand. Far from the usual dairy and sheep farms our aquaculturists are tackling creatures that seem almost alien. From paua and oysters to salmon, white bait, eels and prawns we will discover the challenges and successes of farming these curious aquatic creatures. This exciting series will celebrate the diversity and ingenuity of our sustainable industry and we’ll discover what it takes to be a Water Farmer.
